What is Hypnosis ?

Hypnosis, is a state of altered awareness, during which our subconscious mind is more open and receptive to new ideas and suggestions that are given.

We drift in and out of different levels of awareness quite naturally, many times a day, absorbing information on both a subliminal level as well as a conscious one.

For example, when did you last drive somewhere, and suddenly realise you had gone into ‘Auto’ pilot for part of the journey, perhaps arriving at your destination with barely any conscious memory of the journey you just took!

Your subconscious competence enables you to drive safely, while another part of your mind daydreams. Or perhaps deeply engrossed in a book, completely shutting off from any distractions/the outside world, the time can fly by without you noticing.

Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis to help with a specific problem or issue, to change your mindset, habits and behaviours for lasting change.

Appointment and Fees?

Your Hypnotherapy session will be held either via Zoom video call, so you can begin to achieve your goals, from the comfort of your own home.

Or In-person appointments can also be booked. These are from my treatment room in Horsham, West Sussex.

Hypnotherapy Sessions:

Each Hypnotherapy session is £80 per 1 hour unless otherwise stated.

Smoking Cessation:

Smoking Cessation Therapy is £275.00 and lasts for a complete session of up to 2 hours.

This programme is so successful, I am confident enough to add a free back-up session, in the unlikely event you should need it within the first 6 months. *This would be a standard session of up to 1 hour, subject to availability. 

Hypnotic Gastric Band

Aimed specifically at those with a BMI of 25+ this treatment package is a series of 4 sessions competitively priced at £350.00.

Weight Loss hypnotherapy sessions are also available – see ‘services’ for more details or please give me a call to discuss the different options.

How many sessions will I need?
A simple phobia can usually be treated in 2 sessions. On average most clients range from 4 – 6 sessions depending on the issue/condition. Smoking Cessation is one extended session.

Together we’ll focus on solutions and discuss how many sessions you’re likely to require. Your sessions will be tailored towards overcoming your challenges and making positive changes.

What can I expect / what techniques will you use?
Sessions are focussed to the individual needs of the client. As part of the first session I will take a confidential case history, so I can fully understand your individual circumstance including patterns of behaviour, thoughts, feelings, challenges, beliefs and your overall goal and objectives.

Hypnotherapy uses many different techniques to work with the subconscious mind to create new outcomes for you, enacting positive change. The actual type used will depend on what you, the client, needs including Hypnotherapy, NLP, CBT, counselling and life-coaching methods.

What is Online Hypnotherapy exactly?
Online Hypnotherapy sessions on Zoom have exactly the same outcomes as face-to-face therapy. Some people feel even more relaxed and comfortable working from their own home or private office space, which can only add to the positive outcome. By being surrounded by your own environment the mind will feel safe and secure as we work together.

In addition, as there is no time travel, clients find this method more convenient saving both time and travel costs.

When I am ‘under’ will I be asleep ?
You will be aware of everything that is happening and being said the whole time, however you will be so deeply relaxed that you may find yourself drifting into different levels of awareness. Your subconscious mind is active throughout and this is what we are working with as explained above.
Will I lose control?
No! Is the answer. You won’t say or do anything that you don’t want to do. If you were given a suggestion that you morally disagreed with you would come out of hypnosis or disregard the suggestions.

Is Hypnotherapy for Children different to Adults?
Hypnotherapy for children is very different to hypnotherapy for adults. Many traditional hypnotherapy approaches are ineffective with children, and are sometimes rejected outright by children. I have undertaken additional comprehensive training in child hypnosis to become a KidsMatters™ therapist, which complements my Clinical Hypnotherapist expertise and practice.
What happens during a Child Hypnotherapy Session?
Following an initial consultation with you, I will find out about your child’s hobbies, favourite books and television programmes which not only helps to put your child at ease, but allows the opportunity to identify the best tools to work with your child in their imaginative flow.

Based on what you and your child have said you would like to work on, I will use a range of techniques – including talking to the child to help them access their imaginative mind, using storytelling, giving them positive suggestions and providing them with a secret superpower – to empower your child to overcome their issue. You are encouraged to stay with your child and, depending on the age and preference of the child, you may wear headphones during the session to allow the child some privacy to talk.

Sessions are held over Zoom or in person.

What age does the child have to be?
I work with children from the age of 7, up to about the age of 16. The work and therapy methods used reflects the age and emotional and cognitive capacity of the child.
What can hypnotherapy for children help with?
If there is a psychological element to a child’s issues, hypnotherapy can help. It has been used to treat a range of issues including lack of confidence, exam nerves, phobias, low self-esteem, anger management, bed-wetting, thumb-sucking, concentration issues, sleep problems and pain relief.
